About Us
We've been building web sites since 1994 and we've been building sites for
businesses in Lanzarote since 2003. We have a proven track record of
delivering excellent results for our customers and we pride ourselves on the
level of service we offer.
Since beginning development in the dark days of HTML 1.0 (when web pages were
grey, the only font was Times New Roman, and graphics just couldn't be done) we
have always pushed the limits of technology and we are now developing to XHTML
and CSS with the very latest tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft
Expression Studio. If you don't know what XHTML and CSS are, don't worry -
it just means that we build sites with the most standard, widely accepted, and
recognised site code.
In 1997 we purchased our own network and in 1998 we launched the first
multi-vendor electronic commerce system available in the UK. In 2003 we
moved to Lanzarote and launched NISCO (we also had a computer shop for a while
but this was closed due to ill health). In 2007, our developers moved back
to the UK and launched Ladybird Internet Ltd which now builds services for NISCO
and web sites for customers in Lanzarote with support from the sales and
marketing team who remain on the island and maintain very close contact with
customers who need personal attention.
We take pride in the recognition that we have as being industry leaders and we
are also a Microsoft Partner, a Microsoft Hosting Partner, a Microsoft Small
Business Specialist, a Microsoft Accountancy Network Partner, and our senior
developer is also an Associate Member of The Institution of Analysts and
Programmers.
In 2008 we began leasing our servers on a long term basis in order to divert a
lot more investment into our software platforms and this has meant many sites
being upgraded to our new Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and other server platforms
such as Microsoft SharePoint Services. We continue to invest heavily in
development software, server technologies, and marketing campaigns with Google
and other leading search engines.
We do not believe that code should ever need to be written twice and we are
always looking for ways in which our technologies can be reused - for example,
the code for Lanzarote Maps is now powering a leading UK
portal (contact us for more information) and our search
engine technologies are being rolled out to provide very localised search
engines in the UK and The Lanzarote Search Engine is a direct
result of this reuse of code.
If you have an idea a please get in touch - we
have also been known to partner new startups and this is an exciting part of our
operations which is becoming increasingly important to us.
